Description
- This kit employs a double antibody sandwich method to measure HbA1c levels. In this assay, HbA1c in the sample binds to an alkaline phosphatase-labeled antibody in the enzyme-labeled reagent and a biotinylated HbA1c antibody in the antibody reagent, forming a “sandwich” structure. Streptavidin-coated magnetic beads, present in excess in the magnetic separation reagent, form a complex with the biotinylated HbA1c antibody.
- Following a washing step, the luminescent substrate is catalyzed by the enzyme in the complex, creating an unstable excited state intermediate. As this intermediate returns to its ground state, photons are emitted. The number of photons produced is directly proportional to the concentration of HbA1c in the sample.
